TORONTO (NEWS1130) – Chad Kackert touched the ball 28 times and racked up 195 total yards of offence to lead the Toronto Argonauts to a 35-22 triumph in the 100th Grey Cup game over the Calgary Stampeders at Rogers Centre.

Kackert had 20 carries for 133 yards and caught eight balls for 62 yards. He was named the most outstanding player of the game.

Toronto led the whole way in front of 53,208 fans. They were up 7-3 after 15 minutes. It was 24-6 at the half and had a 27-11 advantage after three quarters.

Calgary’s only touchdown came in the last minute. Rene Paredes booted four field goals for the Western champions.

The Argo defence shut down the CFL’s rushing leader. The Stamps’ Jon Cornish had just 57 yards on 15 carries.

Toronto QB Ricky Ray was 18 for 30 for 231 yards and had two touchdown passes. Former Lions pivot Jarious Jackson also had a one-yard touchdown toss. Another former BC player, defensive end Ricky Foley, was named the game’s most outstanding player.

The Argos won all three meetings with the Stampeders in 2012.

David Braley now has four titles as an owner. Three with the Lions and now his first with Toronto.

The last team to win the Grey Cup at home was the BC Lions a year ago.
