PENTICTON (NEWS1130) – A Penticton man has been given a life sentence with no chance for parole for 13 years in the murder and sexual assault of a senior.

Corey Swite broke into Olive Hill’s home six years ago, looking for cigarettes after a night of drinking.

The 85-year-old woke up and Swite smothered her with a pillow and sexually assaulted her.

He was convicted of first-degree murder but that was later overturned. During a second trial, he plead guilty to second-degree murder.

Swite, who was 20 years old at the time of the attack, has been in jail for five years.
