No one has come forward in Sunday night’s fatal hit and run

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – There’s still no sign of the driver who struck and killed a woman in East Vancouver Sunday night.

It’s one of three police searches underway in our region involving hit and run cases.

Despite the pleas of Vancouver Police and a grieving husband, no one has come forward yet in the case involving a 43-year-old mother of two who was killed while walking home from work Sunday night.

Cst. Brian Montague once again is urging the driver to come forward now.

“We’re not too sure why the driver didn’t stop. We would like to find him, talk to him and ask him why.”

Montague says whether it’s panic or any other reason, it’s not a good choice to leave the scene. “When you look at the offence of hit and run, you’re looking at getting charged with a criminal offence. You’re looking at possible jail time. We want people to be responsible. We want them to do the right thing.”

Also over the weekend, a 65-year-old woman was struck and killed in Mission.

Two joggers were sent to hospital after being hit in South Surrey on Monday night.
