SURREY (NEWS1130) – Surrey RCMP have released video footage from a hit and run incident hoping someone will come forward with more information.

Two women were jogging on December 3rd, shortly before 8 p.m when they were hit.

The footage shown is from an intersection camera overlooking 152nd Street near 32nd Street. The suspect vehicle can be seen hitting the victims in the crosswalk at approximately 7:43:45 p.m. (located on the left-hand side of the screen). The vehicle is described as a white crossover-style vehicle.

“It is our hope that this new evidence will prompt anyone who might have been a witness to contact the Surrey RCMP as soon as possible,” says Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet.

Following the incident, a 51-year-old was airlifted to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries; the other woman, 54, was taken to hospital with less serious injuries. Both joggers were wearing headlamps and reflective clothing at the time.

“Our investigators are making great progress in this case and we would like to remind the driver involved that it is never too late to do the right thing. It is always better to approach the police than have the police approach you.” says Cpl. Paquet.

One of the victims has since been released from the hospital.
