SURREY (NEWS1130) – Surrey RCMP have made an arrest in the hit and run that injured two female joggers.

Police say a 53-year-old man from Surrey was taken into custody and released to appear in court May 13.

The investigation into the incident is continuing, but police have seized the man’s vehicle and are continuing to gather evidence.

“The Surrey RCMP thank the public for their assistance during this investigation,” says Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet. “They were instrumental in helping our officers put the pieces together and track down the alleged suspect.”

“We worked diligently to ensure that a quick arrest was made, as we are aware of the impact this incident has had on the community and hope this will help to bring some closure to the victims and their families,” he continues.

The two victims were struck in a crosswalk on 152nd St. and 32nd Ave. Monday night. They were taken to Royal Columbian Hospital; one of them had to be transported by helicopter.
