VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – There’s more optimism today about a possible deal to end the NHL lockout.

A meeting between a group of team owners and more than a dozen players went into the early hours of this morning as they tried to bridge the gap. But Rick Dhaliwal in the News1130 Sports Centre says there are still some hurdles to clear.

“There are  a couple of big obstacles: the five-year player contracts that the owners want — that is going to cause problems with the players — and the term of the CBA. The owners want 10 years. The players want a shorter one.”

“The reports coming out of New York are that this thing’s not going to happen in the next 24 to 48 hours. It might take a week, it might take 10 days, it might take less… but all indications point [to them] heading in the right direction.”
