METRO VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Construction intentions in Metro Vancouver sank in October, down 40 per cent from September, according to Statistics Canada.

BC had the largest decline in the country, due to fewer permits being taken out for commercial and institutional buildings and condo projects.

The total value of building permits issued by local municipalities was $433 million.

The Victoria region issued $50 million in permits, a drop of 31 per cent. Abbotsford-Mission had just $6 million worth of new permits, down 84 per cent from the previous month.

BC’s drop in permits for multi-family homes offset advances in several other provinces.
