VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Swift Current scored on two of their first three shots on goal and held on to defeat the Giants 3-1 in front of 8,115 fans at the Pacific Coliseum. Riley Kieser scored Vancouver’s only goal.
Ex-Vancouver winger Levi Bews scored on the Broncos’ first shot of the game, 71 seconds into the first period.
Teammate Ryon Moser followed that up with a goal on Swift Current’s third shot at the midway point of the opening frame.
Vancouver’s lone marker came halfway through the second as centre Kieser potted his fourth of the season.
The visitors’ Adam Lowry restored the two-goal advantage on a penalty shot three minutes later.
Vancouver outshot Swift Current 29-25. Payton Lee made 22 saves for the home side.
The Giants play the second contest of a three-game weekend in Everett on Saturday night, before hosting Kamloops on Sunday afternoon.
