SURREY (NEWS1130) – The free ride is coming to an end.
The tolls on the new Port Mann Bridge kick in at midnight. But about half a million people who have signed up to put a decal on their cars won’t have to pay for their first 20 trips.
The freebie was an incentive to get people on-board with the TReO program.
If you haven’t got your sticker yet, don’t worry; your licence plate will be scanned for the time being and you’ll still get your discount.
But just because the bridge is now fully open, that doesn’t mean construction is done. Adding one highway lane each way from Brunette to the Cassiar Tunnel and other improvements will continue well into the new year.
News1130 air patrol will be up this weekend to see how traffic is moving on the new, tolled bridge.

I was disappointed not knowing there was no booth to pay your toll at Port Mann Bridge in Vancouver. I had my 3 bucks ready and no place to pay. this is not good for out of town users as we may only be there once a year.
I was told by a Vancouver parking meter man that they send you a bill. This is a total inconvenience to me as now I have to send you a cheque for the 3 bucks. There should be a place to pay cash before the bridge. I have talked to many people and they do not plan to use the bridge for this reason.
