VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A trust fund has been set up for the woman who was killed in a hit and run in Vancouver earlier this week.

Leonida Tumanda left behind a husband and two daughters.

Mable Elmore, the MLA for Vancouver-Kensington, has visited the grieving family and says people moved by the story can now donate through a TD trust fund. She says the money will help the family with the essentials.

“There are the immediate needs of the family dealing with the loss, all the arrangements that have to be made with the funeral and viewings. That’s the short-term. Long-term, it’s going to be care for their daughter,” she explains.

Tumanda’s youngest daughter is only five years old.

“They’ve really had a lot of support from the community. People have been cooking meals for them,” Elmore points out.

The 43-year-old was struck at East 43 Ave. and Prince Edward as she was walking home after work late Sunday night.

Tumanda’s husband, Nilo, is pleading with the driver to come forward.

People who’d like to donate to the trust fund can do so at any TD branch. Just state that the account is at branch 9466,  and cite account number 6345314.
