VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The BC SPCA‘s ‘Fall for Kitties’ campaign has turned out to be a big success this year.

The seasonal campaign is offering 50 per cent off all cat adoption fees.

Lorie Chortyk with the SPCA says it has drawn a lot more people into the shelters which is good news for the orphaned kittens without a home of their own.

“We’ve really seen a lot of people who are thinking about getting a pet, and this promotion has been the push that they need. It’s so great, because right now we have 2,200 kittens and cats in our care.

Almost 300 kittens and over 230 cats have been adopted out so far.  “We take in about 6,000 kittens over the summer, but this year the litters just keep coming in through the fall. We’re really hoping as many of them as possible can get homes.”

She says adoption costs include vaccinations, spaying or neutering, deworming and microchipping.

The adoption campaign wraps up on Sunday.
