VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The man accused of going on a violent rampage in downtown Vancouver Friday morning is being held for a psychiatric assessment.
Nicholas Osuteye, 35, is charged with three counts of attempted murder — one for each woman who was beaten. Two of the women who were assaulted have injuries so serious, they may not survive them.
Osuteye was picked up not far from the site of the third attack on Friday, wearing only his underwear.
In a rather bizarre court appearance today, Osuteye seemed to smile occasionally, appearing bemused at times.
Osuteye is being held for a 30-day psychiatric assessment. His bail hearing has been scheduled for January 9th.
