SURREY (NEWS1130) – Surrey’s new top cop is making violent crime a top priority as he takes on his new role.
Chief Superintendent Bill Fordy has outlined some specific goals. He says when a person hurts a person, it is the worst kind of crime.
He is talking about reducing violent acts like murders and domestic violence. He says he’ll be working within Surrey and with other cities to help cut down on crime. “Crime knows no boundaries, shootings know no boundaries. The incidents that we see in Surrey are really no different than Vancouver or Burnaby or Langley.”
Fordy says people who commit crimes are becoming more innovative, and the RCMP needs to do the same, but when asked, wouldn’t give specific details on how Mounties would go about doing that.
