OTTAWA – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has updated its warning for Golden Boy brand inshell mixed nuts which was issued on December 11, 2012 to add more information. The public is advised not to eat the nuts because they may be contaminated with salmonella.
The affected product has been sold across Canada in 1.36-kilogram mesh bags with UPC 0 64684 10948 0.
The nuts were distributed through Loblaws banners as follows:
Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Sakatchewan: Extra Foods, No Frills, RCWC, Shop Easy / SuperValu, Superstore, Westfair, YIG
New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island: Cash & Carry/RCWC, Dominion, Freshmart / Red & White, No Frills,, Save Easy, Superstore
Ontario: Cash & Carry/RCWC, Freshmart, Loblaws, No Frills, Superstore, Valu-mart, YIG, Zehrs
Quebec: Loblaws, Maxi & Cie, Maxi, Provigo
The CFIA said there have been no reported illnesses associated with eating this product.
The packer, Golden Boy Foods Ltd. of Burnaby, B.C. has voluntarily recalled the product from the marketplace and the CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
