RICHMOND (NEWS1130) – He says it’s deeply concerning but it is also an isolated incident.
That is the assessment of Richmond’s mayor, as RCMP continue to investigate a case of shots fired at Ikea.
This time, no one was hit when shots rang out in Ikea’s parking lot Tuesday afternoon, and no one is in custody.
Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie says it’s troubling. “You can be anywhere in the city, you’re at the wrong place at the wrong time and there’s problems. However, I have no reason to think this is anything other than a very, very isolated incident.”
Brodie insists people shouldn’t fear for their safety. “As the statistics will prove, the crime rate in Richmond has decreased.”
Brodie is also confident RCMP are keeping a close tab on any gang activity.
