Cain raises the Giants over the Cougars

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Cain Franson buried the game winning goal with seven minutes left in the third period as the Giants edged the Cougars 2-1. The teams now head north for two more games on the weekend.

Trevor Cheek opened the scoring for Vancouver two minutes into the game, which sent teddy bears flying from the more than 11,000 fans at the Pacific Coliseum on teddy bear toss night.

Jari Erricson evened the game for the visitors with 12 second left in the opening period.

Cheek assisted on Franson’s eleventh goal of the season in the third period.

Giants goaltender Payton Lee had to make 30 saves, as Prince George outshot Vancouver 31-23.

The G-Men are fifth in the BC division, six points back of the Cougars.
