A new lawyer needed for former DJ guilty of sexual assaults

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Another delay in the case of a man who has pleaded guilty in a series of sexual assaults on young Lower Mainland girls.

Without going into much detail, Ibata Hexamer says there’s been a breakdown in the relationship with his lawyer. Crown opposed an adjournment but the case has been put on hold until a new defense lawyer is brought in.

Hexamer, a former entertainment DJ, has pleaded guilty in a string of knife-point attacks on young girls.

The first attack on a 13-year-old girl in 1995 took place outside of Lord Nelson school in east Vancouver.

Then, in 2007, two 14-year-old girls were sexually assaulted in the woods in Delta. The victims say they were threatened with a knife.

Two years later, a six-year-old girl was grabbed at knife-point and sexually assaulted in Surrey. She was with her brother and a friend at the time, they were ordered to look the other way.

Hexamer was arrested in December 2010, after DNA evidence linked the cases. He has been in custody since.

The judge says sentencing will now occur by the end of February.
