Man in hospital after targeted shooting in Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK (NEWS1130) – A man is recovering after getting shot a few times in what police say is a targeted hit.

Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth says police got the call from the injured 46 year old near Ashwell Road and Wolfe Road at 4:45am this morning.

“He was suffering from gun shot wounds.  He was then transported to hospital and what we do believe is that this is a targeted shooting and that there is no threat to the public.”

The location is just blocks from Chilliwack General Hospital but is relatively quiet according to Hollingsworth.

“It’s not a busy area, but there is some residential housing there and a field.  I’m confident to say there shouldn’t be any concern to the public,” says Hollingsworth.

She says it’s not related to any recent Lower Mainland gang murders. Police continue to look for suspects and aren’t saying if the victim knows the shooter. So far, no one has been arrested.

The incident forced Chilliwack General to implement restricted access in the morning.
