Seahawks host 49ers in crucial NFC West tilt

SEATTLE, WA (NEWS1130) – The Seattle Seahawks (9-5) will try to stay alive in their bid for an NFC West title as they’ll host the division-leading San Francisco 49ers (10-3-1) in primetime tonight. Seattle clinches a playoff spot with a win.

With just two weeks to go in the regular season, the Seahawks have to beat San Francisco tonight, or the 49ers will clinch a second straight NFC title.

The Seahawks are yet to lose at home, as they’ve gone 6-0 at CenturyLink Field so far this season. Their last home game was a 58-0 thrashing of the Arizona Cardinals two weeks ago.

Seattle has struggled against NFC West competition so far this season as it has a 1-3 record. The 49ers beat the Seahawks 13-6 in San Francisco on Oct. 18.

The game pits two of the top defences in the league against one another. San Francisco ranks first in the NFL with just 15.57 points-allowed-per-game, while Seattle is not far behind in second, allowing 15.64 points-per-game.

Two of the top young quarterbacks in the league will be featured in this match-up. Seahawks Rookie Russell Wilson has been very effective of late, helping lead his team to three straight wins. Meanwhile, 49ers sophomore Colin Kaepernick will make his sixth career start, and sixth in a row. Kaepernick has a 4-1 record as a starter, and has thrown seven touchdowns with two interceptions.

Kick-off is at 5:20.
