Christine Sinclair wins 2012 Bobby Rosenfeld Award

TORONTO (NEWS1130) –  Burnaby’s Christine Sinclair has earned another year-end honour.  The Canadian womens soccer captain has won the Bobbie Rosenfeld Award as The Canadian Press female athlete of 2012.

Sinclair, Canada’s all-time scoring leader was the top scorer at the London 2012 Winter Olympics,  helping Canada to a bronze medal,  Canada’s first medal in a traditional team sport since 1936.

Sinclair had a hat trick in Canada’s heart-breaking 4-3 semifinal loss to the United States.  The Burnaby South High grad and former Vancouver Whitecap women’s star has won nearly every athlete of year award in Canada this month.

Trampolinist Rosie MacLennan was a distant second in balloting among sports editors and broadcasters from across the country.  MacLennan won Canada’s only gold medal at the Games. Long-track speed skater Christine Nesbitt was third in the voting.
