Don’t catch the post-holiday blues

VANCOUVER, BC (NEWS1130) – It’s a problem that does exist and you need to be careful not to fall into it according to Psychologist Dr. Joti Samra.

She says there are things you can do to help yourself from creeping into the slump. “Really just be mindful of basic self care, I always say the usual suspects are what we need to monitor. Our sleep, our eating habits, and exercise, three things which we don’t do a very good job of during the holidays.”

She says at least 10 per cent of the population will suffer from the clinical version, Seasonal Affective Disorder but the rest of us still need to be mindful.

“Temporarily people are getting excited because there are possibly things to look forward to, you’re socializing and then there’s this post-Christmas blah that a lot of people start to experience.”

She says it’s important to understand this can happen and do what you can to stop it.
