AGASSIZ (NEWS1130) – A prison guard at a maximum security prison in Agassiz has been charged with drug trafficking.
Cst. Tracy Wolbeck says 42-year-old Paul Fleming was arrested at the prison yesterday, accused of selling meth and marijuana at the Kent Institution.
“It’s obviously a big concern, for sure. It’s difficult for us, obviously, going in to make an arrest on someone that we consider partnerships with, so it’s a difficult dynamic for everybody involved.”
She says the RCMP has been working with Correctional Service Canada throughout the investigation.
Fleming was released and will appear in court January 29.

Of course there are drugs in prison.
It’s been happening forever and will continue to happen.
And your naivete is indicative of Management doing damage control.
Professional? Ha Ha , that is as bad as todays firemen calling themselves “Hometown Heroes” , what a joke ! In the “Real” world neither job would even be considered “Skilled Labour” ! You can take a “Homeless” person and they would do just as good a job as the stuffed shirts in these so called “Professions” .
Most correctional officers have integrity and they are professional. Like any profession, there are bad apples. This individual is not representative of the majority of correctional officers.
I find your off the cuff comments totally without merit and they are not based on fact. In other words, your comments are totally irresponsible.
Makes one wonder who he was selling to: The inmates or the staff? The staff are equally as likely to be drug users in today’s CSC!
What – no picture of the accused? I wonder why.
Just goes to show not one of these Screws” can be trusted.
Hmm…. would this be a good way for population control within the prison?
I have worked for CSC for 24 years, and this is one of many things that we despise correctional officers of doing. I hope it is not true.
