AGASSIZ (NEWS1130) – A prison guard at a maximum security prison in Agassiz has been charged with drug trafficking.
Cst. Tracy Wolbeck says 42-year-old Paul Fleming was arrested at the prison yesterday, accused of selling meth and marijuana at the Kent Institution.
“It’s obviously a big concern, for sure. It’s difficult for us, obviously, going in to make an arrest on someone that we consider partnerships with, so it’s a difficult dynamic for everybody involved.”
She says the RCMP has been working with Correctional Service Canada throughout the investigation.
Fleming was released and will appear in court January 29.
