Flights at YVR affected by storm in Ontario

By

ONTARIO (NEWS1130) – You’ll want to check on the status of your flight if you’re heading out of YVR today, or expecting someone from out east.

A major storm is pounding Ontario this morning and it’s creating chaos at airports.

The winter storm heading into southern Ontario will dump about 20cm of snow in parts of the province. Meteorologist Arnold Ashton says the storm will create some nasty conditions for drivers. “I think it’s the combination of snow and blowing snow that makes this particularly nasty. It’s just not going to be a very pleasant thing to travel in, so any long-distance travel, I would say if you can work around that, it would be ideal.

More than 100 flights have been cancelled or delayed at Toronto Pearson Airport today.

Further east, Montreal could see 45cm of snow before the storm moves into Nova Scotia and PEI by tomorrow.

The storm is part of the same system that hammered the midsection of the US and is blamed for six deaths there.
