VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The holiday season is often deliciously high-calorie. So, it shouldn’t be too surprising that losing weight is the top New Year’s resolution among Canadians.

Psychotherapist Hina Khan says shedding pounds, and keeping them off, starts in your head. “First is to stop the negative thoughts before they take over.”

“What I mean by that is… don’t even let them rent space in your head. You’d be surprised at how many people don’t realize how much of their thoughts are consumed with negativity,” she explains.

“It could be anything from saying ‘I get to go to the gym’ instead of ‘I have to go to the gym.’ Think about focusing what you have to gain as opposed to what you have to sacrifice.”
