Independent MLAs urge province to re-appoint AG Doyle

VICTORIA (NEWS1130) – Independent MLAs are joining forces to help get BC’s Auditor General re-appointed.

Delta South MLA Vicki Huntington, Abbotsford South MLA John van Dongen, and Cariboo North MLA Bob Simpson have set aside their differences for this issue.

“We felt strongly enough that this decision was a very wrong one.  The government is making a major error for nothing but political reasons,” says Huntington.

She says Auditor General John Doyle has done a good job critiquing the government during his six-year term, and that’s why getting rid of him wouldn’t be a smart move.

“They [the government] just do not like anybody who is prepared to suggest that their management of various programs and fiscal responsibility is nothing less than perfect,” argues Huntington.

The trio is supporting the NDP which is calling on the Premier to ask the legislative committee to reconsider the decision.  The Liberals have launched a search to replace Doyle, but won’t say why.
