TransLink tackling odd complaint

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – What does “Not in Service” mean to you?  The answer may not be as obvious as you think as TransLink tries to get to the bottom of that phrase for its services.

“We’ve received some complaints from people who had been passed-by while waiting at a bus stop.  The bus said ‘Not in Service’ but maybe that didn’t register with them,” says Drew Snider with the transit authority.

He says the term will be investigated in its latest survey and it will also go to TransLink’s advisory committee to see if the phrase is clear enough or if it needs better wording.

“But seriously, it is important that we communicate to the public a buses status.  So whether it is the #14 going to UBC or it is ‘Out of Service’ or ‘Not in Service,’ we need to communicate that particular status,” he adds.

The survey hopes to better explain what the term means and if that phrase should be included when it comes to issues like mechanical problem.
