Another Stanley Cup rioter avoids jail time

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A young man with ambitions to become a doctor has avoided jail time for his actions during the Stanley Cup riot.

A judge has handed Rag Gu Rock Gue Kim, also known as Rocky Kim, a conditional sentence.

Kim is worried he won’t get into medical school with a criminal record and judge David St. Pierre agrees, saying that’s a significant factor in the young man’s life.

Kim was among the people who attacked a couple of parked vehicles near the Post Office at the onset of the riot.

During the sentencing, the judge also brought up the many calls for harsh sentences against rioters.

He says the people making those demands aren’t always entirely informed about the law and the circumstances.

Kim passed by reporters afterwards without comment.
