Ridge Meadows RCMP looking into attempted abduction

MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS1130) – RCMP’s Serious Crimes Unit is investigating an attempted abduction.
A woman was approached outside her workplace at the Westgate Mall around 8 p.m. on Saturday.
She was approached by a man who asked for her help in getting his car started. The victim went to help, but he flashed a weapon and made the young woman drive her car away from the area.
The suspect assaulted the woman. She fought her attacker and managed to escape to a nearby home and called police.
The suspect drove off in the victim’s car, a red 1993 Honda Civic, which has been recovered.
The suspect is described as a man with a dark complexion, in his 20’s, about 5″10′, weighing 180 to 200 pounds with a medium build. At the time of the attack he had few days of facial stubble. He was wearing a white t-shirt, black puffy jacket, dark blue jeans, white and black shoes, and a black toque.
