VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – More animal cruelty charges have been approved against a man already accused of filming the horrific torture of a kitten on his cell phone last July.
The SPCA says it has discovered an additional 36 videos of cats and a mouse being tortured and killed over a two-month period in early 2012.
General Manager Lorie Chortyk says it shows some of the most shocking and horrifying images she has ever seen. ” Five cats, they are being tortured over and over. In one case the torture goes over a 48 hour period on the same animal.”
The films were turned in to them on an SD card by someone who had bought a used phone.
“He is still awaiting trial on charges from last year. He makes a court appearance on February 4th to face these new charges,” explains Chortyk.
If convicted, Lucas faces up to five years in jail, a fine of up to $10,000, and up to a lifetime prohibition of owning or having custody of animals.
He was originally identified and charged last year based on a distinctive tattoo on his left hand.
