PORT COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – Mounties want to hear from other potential victims who may have been sexually exploited years ago by a teacher in Port Coquitlam.
RCMP Corporal Jamie Chung says 60-year-old Russell Read recently pleaded guilty on two counts.
“Recently, we received reports from three alleged victims who were taught by Read at the school between the years of 1996 and 2004. We are following up on the information,” explains Chung.
Read was a computer teacher at Citadel Middle School.
“Besides being a computer teacher at the school, he also coached volleyball, rugby, and taught choir,” says Chung.
If you have allegedly been a victim of Read, please contact Constable Jenn Croft at 604-552-7394 or Constable Andrea Schadeck at 604-552-7393 of the Coquitlam RCMP Sex Crimes Unit.

@Rick, right, ALL teacher and ALL priests are bad, right? Brilliant post.
@David, right, the BCTF, who fights to better the entire learning environment, would turn a blind eye to abuse, right? Brilliant, you know nothing about it and have just given proof.
The fact is, that aside from a few who step over the line into becoming a criminal, the vast majority of teachers would do anything to help stop abuse of a child.
Teachers, priests, police officers, office workers, construction workers or ANY other humans who abuse children are simply criminals who need to be held accountable for their actions, end of story.
The only thing better would be if they were stopped before it happened somehow.
@Rck – Priests by a longshot because it’s far more common among them.
Shut up Lynn and Rck
BCTF probably protected this guy all along – but they dont want their members disciplined by the teachers college. BCTF protects union workers not students.
I don’t know who’s worse priests or school teachers!
