LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) – He was convicted of luring children over Facebook and impersonating a police officer.
But despite being handed a six-month sentence yesterday, Jeffrey Goddard is days away from being released. That’s because Goddard has been in custody since July, when he was arrested for being in contact with a teen over the Internet, a breach of his probation.
After factoring in time served, he will be out in 12 days.
At the time of his arrest, he was just coming off another 20-month prison stint for pretending to be a cop and child luring.
Goddard had been forbidden, under a court order, from contacting young people or accessing the web. Yet, when he was caught, he was running two computers and used a fake Facebook profile to friend a 15-year-old boy.
He had called Abbotsford home, but his lawyer claims Goddard will be looking for a new place to live when completes his sentence.
