Coquitlam SAR looking for missing Burnaby woman

BURNABY (NEWS1130) – RCMP have a possible lead on the whereabouts of a senior who went missing January 16th.

Coquitlam Search and Rescue have been asked to investigate a sighting of someone matching the description of 66-year-old Gui Feng Tong on Burnaby Mountain near Horizon’s Restaurant.

“We found it was worth running the trails to see if she was still in the area. Campus security is also looking in the university. There’s a possibility that she may have been sheltering there and having food at the university,” explains Michael Coyle with Coquitlam SAR.

Coyle says they will have 20 volunteers out looking for Tong. “We’re just going to run the trails until we find evidence that leads us in some direction. I expect we will be done around 2 a.m.”

Tong only speaks Mandarin.

If you have any information on her whereabouts, contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-294-7922.

Again with immigrants?!

@KingTroll and David:
You guys really have nothing to do except blaming immigration and immigrants for not being able to speak English…I’ve seen 60 yr old Caucasian woman from Europe spoke no English at all when she caused a 3 car pile up. So kiss your racist BS goodbye. The older you’re the harder it is for you to learn a new language. Take a walk down to Marine Dr and Victoria Dr’s German Canadian retirement home then you’ll know what I’m talking about.

David

When I immigrated to this country 30 years ago, people who interviewed me at the Canadian embassy in Brasilia insisted that I could communicate in one of our two official languages. I got by with my French and as soon as I landed, the first thing I did was getting a job and learning English. I wonder what happened with our immigration system since. Maybe she’s a tourist …
