This is very tragic but no amount of laws or fines are going to stop these insane drivers. Young people feel invincible and will push the envelope when it comes to taking risks such as speeding because “it doesn’t happen to them”. There are warnings, peer presentations at school from people who have experienced this tragedy, and endless reports saying speed kills but each week we witness another accident that kills or seriously injures another young person. The reality is this will continue to happen (twice last night) and no matter how much we promote safe drinving we will be reading about this again soon.
unfortunately the driver survived
Vancouver drivers scare me. The way they speed down the construction zone on hwy1 at night are like death wishes. Powerful cars, no common sense, and slow reflexes pretty much sum up these Vancouver drivers.
Once again we read of a passenger dying and the driver walking away. Our society needs to stop these types of drivers. I read below in other posts — talking about a lack of ability. This not about ability, you should not be driving in the city at at the speed it takes to rip a car in two. I say revoke the license and seize the vehicle of anyone driving at high speeds in the city. No deal, no excuses, make it automatic– No driving for 20 years. That will start to drop the number of idiots on the roads, that and increased police enforcement where there currently is very little. As for the driver in this case… life in prison. At least her parents will agree with that judgment. He was stupid beyond measurement and she is dead because.
