New trial ordered in killing of Abbotsford teen

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A new trial has been ordered in the murder of Chelsey Acorn.

The BC Court of Appeal has overturned the first degree murder conviction of Dustin Moir.

The body of 14-year old Acorn was found in a shallow grave north of Hope in 2006.

The Court of Appeal has ruled the judge in Moir’s trial did not properly instruct the jury.

Moir’s father Jesse West was also just recently convicted in her death. He was given a life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years.

Acorn ran away from her Abbostford home in 2005, and her body was found in Hope in 2006.
