VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A BC group is continuing its fight against distracted driving, even though we now have laws against using phones while driving.
Karen Bowman, the founder of Drop it and Drive, says BC’s legislation is not a sufficient deterrent.
“The reason people have for doing it are really beyond me. I’ve been hit twice, and getting that phone call that my daughter’s crashed. No one wants to go through that. No one wants to be on the receiving end of injuries. I can’t imagine anybody wanting to be responsible.”
Bowman says she may get more involved in trying to lobby the government to toughen legislation. She wants BC to follow Alberta’s law when it comes to eating and personal grooming while driving.
