Back to back monster shootout wins for the Heat

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – Barry Brust made 38 saves in 65 minutes of play and three more in the shootout to lead the Abbotsford Heat to a 1-0 win over the Lake Erie Monsters. Carter Bancks had the shootout winning goal for the Heat.
It was the fifth shutout of the season for Brust.
After missing their first three attempts in the breakaway competition, the Heat’s Paul Byron, Tyler Ruegsegger and Bancks all scored. Brad Malone of the Monsters failed to score on Lake Erie’s final attempt.
Making his debut in the AHL, goalie Kent Patterson turned aside 23 shots for the Monsters.
On Saturday, the Heat came back from 3-1 down to win 4-3 in the shootout over the Cleveland crew.
With the weekend sweep of the Avalanche’s top farm club, Abbotsford is now second in the Western Conference, four points back of the Texas Stars.
The Heat have a five point advantage on second place Toronto in the North Division.
