BC politicians preparing intense session of the legislature

VICTORIA (NEWS1130) – Provincial politicians are preparing for what’s expected to be a short and intense session of the legislature, followed by a general election.

It all begins tomorrow with the speech from the throne, and then we’ll get a look at the Liberal government’s spending priorities when the BC budget is introduced next Tuesday.

Before the expected five-week session wraps up, Premier Christy Clark’s government intends to introduce legislation to restore the provincial sales tax, create a new seniors advocate position, approve a process to elect a federal senator and rewrite the hiring process for BC’s auditor general.

The election campaign officially gets underway on April 16th, with BC’s roughly $3-million voters heading to the polls May 14th.
