LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) – Police in the Lower Mainland are half-way through the list of Top Ten Car Thieves.

They’ve arrested five of them already, and the program is less than two weeks old.

Police say Ian Mountain was picked up in Surrey after being seen driving a stolen truck. Officers say they found stolen credit cards inside the Dodge.

The 27-year-old tried to make a run for it, stopped a car that was driving past, banged on the passenger window demanding to be let in, completely unaware it was an unmarked police car. He’ll appear in court tomorrow. He was placed third on the list.

Lisa Shaw was also arrested in Surrey and will appear in court February 21. The 42-year-old was fourth on the most wanted list.

Graham Hunter was arrested in Surrey and will appear in court on February 21. He’s on probation for possession of a stolen vehicle and driving while disqualified. The 32-year-old was car thief number five.

Coquitlam RCMP nabbed Anthony Baird. The 19-year-old is on probation for theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle. He was placed number eight on the top ten list.

Travis McKay is being held in custody until his next court appearance tomorrow. The 29-year-old was arrested by Delta police February 7. He was the tenth most wanted car thief in the Lower Mainland.
