VICTORIA (NEWS1130) – The NDP says it has discovered the Liberal government is spending more money on self-promoting ads, with still more ads to come.
During the first Question Period of the new session of BC legislature today, NDP leader Adrian Dix said leaked government documents show the ads will cost taxpayers $16.4 million, with the Liberals planning new ads to promote the upcoming budget.
He demanded the government ban partisan advertising, especially in the run-up to the provincial election.
Premier Christy Clark defended the ads, saying they make the NDP uncomfortable because they show the success of the Liberals’ job creation plan, which she claims puts BC in first place in job creation in Canada.
But Dix says the real figures show BC is eighth place when it comes to job creation.
Meanwhile, Jobs Minister Pat Bell accused the NDP of spending more than the Liberals on government ads when it was in power in the 1990′s.

the truth about voting:
Tricky Dix. slimy, weasel. Everything he says is a lie.
Where have you been for the last 10 years? The liberals are the biggest liars out there.
More Corruption at its Best
NDP
NDP!!!!
Anyone but Dix to lead a party ……still looking for that skytrain tix?
Hardly an accusation when anyone can see them for what they are. As for job creation, the ad industry is doing just fine, thanks to the Liberals.
The Liberals attack ads reek of desperation, they are way behind in the polls, women apparently don’t like Christy, so OK folks, the writing is on the wall and BC wants a change.
There’s no perfect political party, so whatever, we vote for the party that appears to be the best choice for our own needs. It really is time for a change and all this BS about how horrobl things were inthe 90′s is just more BS, things were not bad then, but thing re getting out o hand now.
Arguing about what Dix did 14 years go, while the Liberals have had more serious things go on since then is pure desperation by a bunch of rich, old white millionaires who are worried that the rest of us might actually get a leg up on life an threaten their wealth, influence and power somehow.
Screw that, screw them and screw the Liberal who got them there.
Time for a change and we’ll see what happens, we have nothing to lose as regular boring working stiffs, who pay all the bills for this province.
I’m voting NDP, not because I love them or because I’m an NDP fanboy, but because I want a chance for a change and they are the only viable alternative party who has a hope of getting in.
Conservatives, spare me your pleas, you haven’t got a chance, so you’re out.
I think a lot of people feel the same as I do, but we’ll see on May 14th. I hope everyone votes this time…
Though I am a Liberal supporter, I think the NDP is correct on this one. Politics in BC has hit an all time low and Christie Clark is out of control. I personally don’t need taxpayer funded advertizements telling me well good BC is doing. This does not excuse the NDP or the Conservative for their actions though. The politicians in this province are acting like a bunch of children, each trying it get there face in the camera. It’s quite sickening, really.
