TORONTO (NEWS1130) – Liberal leadership hopeful Justin Trudeau found himself being pressed by rival Marc Garneau in a candidates debate in Toronto today.
Garneau questioned what qualifications Trudeau has for the party’s top job and chided him on a lack of any specific policies.
He accused Trudeau of merely talking in generalities on the policy side and says being a good leader takes more than just being a good speaker.
Trudeau stressed his ability to connect with people and says that’s the key to leading the Liberals back to power.
He cited his success in winning his Montreal-riding over the Bloc Quebecois two elections ago.
Trudeau says leadership is also about winning and ridiculed Garneau’s policy ventures, saying the next Liberal leader won’t be able to win over Canadians with a five-point plan.
The Liberals will pick a new leader in April.

Justin Trudeau is running solely on his dad’s name. He is frequntly absent from parliament for private speaking engagement that he charges $20 grande an hour for, while also being paid as a member of the house. He has never been schooled in politics and would be a poor choice as a
party leader, although, his fresh fce and name will do him good.
The art of politics has been lost and all these people do is bully and criticize each other. There is not real debate. They each come along with their own agenda and work their agenda into the conversation. Real debate means actually debating the issues not pointing fingers at what other may or may not do. Let’s get back to basics and have a real debate because this is more like an infomercial and tells us nothing we don’t already know. Debates for the tackling the issues not for attacking the individuals.
