SURREY (NEWS1130) – There likely won’t be a sentencing hearing for the young man who pleaded guilty to killing 15-year-old Laura Szendrei on Monday.
The Crown expects the case to be adjourned because a number of reports the judge will rely on for sentencing aren’t ready yet.
There’s no word on how long that will take.
Crown expects Monday’s appearance to brief and the man, who can’t be named because he was only 17 when Szendrei was killed, will be brought back for a sentencing hearing at a later date.
When that happens, the Crown will push to have the man sentenced as an adult.
Szendrei’s badly beaten body was found in Mackie Park in North Delta in 2010. She later died in the hospital.
