ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – A woman’s body has been found in Abbotsford at the side of Riverside Road near King Road.

Constable Ian MacDonald says someone driving by made the discovery, got out to investigate and then called police.

“It’s not a regular occurrence for members of the public to come across a deceased person or a badly-injured on the side of the road. So that in itself is suspicious,” he tells News1130.

Though MacDonald says the victim appeared hurt, he won’t say where or how severe the injuries are.

“We’ll have to determine whether those injuries were caused by… something that was accidental, or something that was intentional. Those are still questions that we’ll have to answer,” he tells us.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is being consulted, but MacDonald can’t yet confirm whether this is a murder.

“As far as whether this is a possible dumped body etc. we will follow the evidence and if we derive any evidence that indicates that, obviously we will pursue it but at this point in time it’s really early stages of the investigation.”
