LAPD tight-lipped over Elisa Lam investigation

LOS ANGELES (NEWS1130) – Family and friends of Elisa Lam are in mourning and struggling to figure out how the UBC student died.

The body of the 21-year-old was found in a water tank on the roof of the Cecil Hotel.

“She was identified through body markings,” says Officer Diana Figueroa with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Lam went missing at the end of January. Last week, a video was released by the LAPD that showed her in the hotel elevator pressing all the buttons, ducking in and out, hiding in the corner, and crouching to the ground.

“Detectives are still currently in the early stages of investigation, so I wouldn’t be able to go into detail as far as what type of investigation they’re going through,” says Figueroa.

The taps of the hotel have been shut off and people living there are being offered bottled water.
