The Heat can’t handle Haydar in the AHL

ROSEMONT, IL (NEWS1130) – Darren Haydar had a pair of goals in regulation and one more in the shootout as the Canucks farm team from Chicago held off Abbotsford 4-3. Joe Piskula had a pair of assists for the Heat.

Haydar’s second goal of the evening, 28 seconds into the third period, gave the Wolves a 3-1 advantage.

The Heats’ Brett Carson scored three minutes later and with just under three minutes to go Krys Kolanos evened the score for the visitors.

After being called up from Utah, Mitch Wahl had the Heat’s first goal of the game with 80 seconds to go in the second period.

Bill Sweatt had the other Chicago goal in regulation.

Matt Climie made 32 saves and three more in the shootout to get the win in goal for Chicago. Leland Irving allowed goals by Haydar, Nathan Longpre and Michael Davies in the break away competition. He stopped 35 shots during the game.

The shootout loss earned Abbotsford it’s only point on a five-game road trip. The Heat host Charlotte on Friday.
