SURREY (NEWS1130) – Police are now confirming the body found in a car near an elementary school in Surrey last night is that of a man who vanished over the weekend.
Vimal Chand, 29, is the victim of the city’s latest homicide. His body was found near Hyland Elementary.

Chand had been missing since Saturday.
“We received a call from a civilian in the neighbourhood that they had seen the car parked on the street for three or four days. When he approached the car, he found a male lying in the car,” describes Sergeant Joe Johal.
There is a tarp over a car at the scene. Corporal Bari Emam with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says it’s too early to say whether Chand was killed in the car or if his body was left there.
“The vehicle is all we have that we’re looking into. We have cordoned off the scene. We will do a ground search of the area to determine if there’s anything that’s related to the crime outside the vehicle.”
Emam tells us the body may have been there for days.

I got to admit, when reading the comments, I utterly embarrassed to say I am for one a Canadian and another that I live in BC.
While Surrey does not have the best reputation, I would rather live there than anywhere these troll live.

Hello all you Surrey bashers Surrey isn’t the only City dealing with Crime there has been Shootings and Stabbings all over the Metro area… I lived in this area for 11 years and two of my kids went to that School it is a Beautiful park like area and is a no through street and the sad part is that no parents noticed this suspicious car sitting there till last night. It’s sad that young kids had to walk past this car for days and who knows how many kids looked in the car as they went past it! Unless you live or have lived in Surrey you have no Right to bash it or say anything about the City……How about next time you consider a road trip East out of town maybe think twice because you do realize you have to drive through SURREY to get out of town!
