VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – There are reports the land which the recently closed Kitsilano Coast Guard Base sits on could be up for sale.
Confusion over who owns that property continues to grow.
A leaked federal memo last week suggested that the waterfront property is being shopped around.
Ottawa says the land doesn’t belong to the feds, it is owned by the province.
Vancouver city councillor Kerry Jang did some digging. “As far as I have been able to ascertain, the land is titled as federal crown land with an address in downtown Vancouver given for the DFO.”
He is disappointed there hasn’t been any talk with the feds from the start, everything from the abrupt closure to who owns the land.
News1130 has put in a call to BC’s Ministry of Forests, Land and Natural Resources to find out if the property is provincial crown land.
