VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Bad news for local skiers and boarders.
Mt. Seymour is closed today thanks to a blown transformer.
Hydro crews are working throughout the day and expect to have the power on the hill back on tomorrow.
Julie Mulligan with the resort says the closure comes with 47cm of new snow yesterday.
“Oh, it was definiately bad timing. If we could choose another time, we wouldn’t have chosen right now. It was an issue that hydro said had to be done right away,” says Mulligan.
“It’s not a snow issue. It’s some damage was sustained to the transformer that BC Hydro had to fix,” she adds.
On the bright side, Mulligan says more fresh snow is expected over the next few days.
No word yet on what caused the transformer to blow.
