VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It was a night of good conversation, fun, and a chance to meet the folks behind the mic!
News1130 hosted this year’s Tweetup at The Sandbar on Granville Island tonight. This annual event is our way of thanking our Twitter followers.
“First and foremost, this event is fun!” explains Denise Wong, Managing Editor of Web and New Media. “It’s also an opportunity for us to find out more about you and how we can deliver the news to you in the best way possible.”
Tonight’s event on Twitter, using the #1130TU hashtag achieved trending status in Vancouver about halfway through the event.
Morning show anchor Reaon Ford tweeted “Woot, Monday funday at the @News1130radio tweet-up! #1130TU“

Has News 1130 thought of extending invites to attendees to previous Tweetups?
Thank you News 1130 for the invitation. My wife and I had a lovely time.
Is there any other way to get tickets to this event other than by winning it?
I am getting sick and tired of the media pushing a Liberal-activist view of homosexuality down everyone’s throats. Now they have the audacity to attack the freedom of religion and their beliefs (which is protected under our charters and freedoms).
Hey Leroy, care to explain what your rant has to do with the News 1130 Tweetup?
Leroy, are you off your Meds again? So an active Liberal has been putting something homosexual down my throat, which is kind of par for the course with that subject. Now “the Media”, which is a large spectrum of people nowadays, are attacking, and I quote, “the freedom of religion and their beliefs”. I don’t now how you attack freedom, itself, and why would the media attack their own beliefs? I was also not aware that whatever you were just said was protected in one of our charters. I actually thought we only had one Charter, and I have never seen this list of “freedoms”. BTW, Leroy was the name of my childhood dog, but he had a brain tumour. That fact is probably more interesting than what you attempted to communicate from your mouth. You know, that mouth that is not attached to your brain.
