Homicide in Langley

LANGLEY (NEWS1130) – The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is at a home in Langley where a man has been found dead.

Homicide investigators are trying to figure out if the drugs are behind the man’s death.

It was a person concerned about the well being of a man that called police and sent them to the home on 200 Street near 20 Avenue.

Inside, they found the body and signs of foul play, according to Corporal Adam MacIntosh.

“There are a number of indicators for investigators, for the first responders, that cause them to come to the belief that this was a homicide. Those particular indicators are not something we’re prepared to release at this time.”

Police want to confirm if there’s a connection between the death and the grow-op inside.

“It’s not clear whether or not the marijuana grow operation was directly linked to the actual homicide itself,” says MacIntosh, who adds it’s not yet clear if this was a medicinal grow-op or an illegal one.

People passing by say it’s not the only drug house in the neighbourhood.

One neighbour who knows the man who lived inside the house describes him as rough looking, but says it was a fairly quiet home.

MacIntosh says they haven’t confirmed the identity of the body. “We do have an idea of who the individual is, but out of respect for the family the only information I can release right now is that it was a caucasian male.”

IHIT and Langley RCMP investigators will remain on scene for the next couple of days.
